Privacy and Security
Information provided to the National Council on Disability (NCD) and its contractors will be kept confidential. Information is kept in a secure database and will not be shared with other entities, including federal agencies, employment service providers, or other companies, without prior consent.
NCD is committed to maintaining the privacy of your personal information and the security of our computer systems. With respect to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, NCD shall comply with applicable federal law, including the Privacy Act of 1974, the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, and the Freedom of Information Act.
As a general rule, the National Council on Disability (NCD) will collect no personal information about you when you visit its websites unless you choose to provide that information. If you visit the website to read or download information, NCD only identifies the following:
- The name of the domain and Internet Protocol address from which you access the Internet,
- The type of browser and operating system used to access the site,
- The file visited and the time spent in each file,
- The date and time you access the site, and
- The Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to the National Summit site
The above information is used by software programs on the site to create summary statistics which allow NCD to assess the number of visitors to the different sections of the site; identify what information is of most and least interest; determine technical design specifications; monitor system performance; and assist us in making the site more useful for visitors.
If you identify yourself by sending an e-mail containing personal information, you may include personally-identifying information, such as your mailing address, requesting information to be mailed to you. Information collected in this manner is used solely for responding to requests for information or application. As such, NCD or its contractors may forward your e-mail to employees who are better able to respond to your request.
Personally-identifying information may also be disclosed to the proper authorities in special cases where NCD has reason to believe that doing so is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against anyone damaging, injuring, or interfering (intentionally or unintentionally) with any of NCD’s rights, property, interests, users, or anyone else who may be harmed by such activities. NCD may further reveal personally-identifying information when required to do so by legal process or law enforcement personnel, or at any time when NCD shall have good faith reason to believe that the law requires NCD to do so.
Linking to Sites Outside the National Summit Site
Our websites have links to other sites. When you link to any of these sites, you are no longer on our site and are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.
Web Accessibility
NCD is committed to making its websites accessible to all citizens. We are continually working to make all pages more accessible and to ensure they meet or exceed the requirements of Section 508 (of the Rehabilitation Act) of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
