NIDRR and the Department of Education

The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) is committed to improving results and outcomes for people with disabilities of all ages. In supporting President Bush’s No Child Left Behind agenda and the New Freedom Initiative, OSERS provides a wide array of supports to parents and individuals, school districts and states in three main areas: special education, vocational rehabilitation and research.

Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR)

An important component of NIDRR’s work involves the coordination of its research agenda with that of other federal agencies. This coordination is through the ICDR. Its public Web site is currently set up to collect comments.

The NCDDR scope of work responds directly to NIDRR’s concern for increasing the effective use of NIDRR-sponsored research results in shaping new technologies, improving service delivery, and expanding decision-making options for people with disabilities and their families.
