Electronic & Information Technology Testing
New Editions supports the VA Office of Information Technology Enterprise Architecture Management by conducting Department-wide validation and conformance testing of VA’s EIT products and systems to ensure conformance with the Section 508 mandates; providing innovative strategies in implementing the Section 508 legislation while helping to increase awareness of accessibility issues and programs for internal and external VA stakeholders, participating in VA’s Enterprise-wide Section 508 initiatives ensuring that its large systems and OMB 300’s are 508 compliant; and reviewing Department-wide Web access reports.
Historically, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has achieved success in providing accessible and usable information technology for its disabled employees and customers. VA has established a Section 508 Accessibility Testing and Training Center, located in the Central Office, which has provided accessible services, conformance testing solutions and innovative strategies in implementing the goals and objectives of the Section 508 legislation while helping to increase awareness of accessibility issues and programs for internal and external VA stakeholders. VA’s current Section 508 activities, in some areas, serve as a model for other federal agencies.
